Observed each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is an annual nationwide campaign that celebrates the many and varied contributions of workers with disabilities. NDEAM emphasizes the importance of ensuring that all Americans have access to the services and supports to enable them to work. This year’s official theme was “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion.”

“Our national recovery from the pandemic cannot be completed without the inclusion of all Americans, in particular, people with disabilities,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. “Their contributions have historically been vital to our nation’s success, and are more important today than ever. We must build an economy that fully includes the talent and drive of those with disabilities.”

To support this year’s theme, Lintons provided a variety of ongoing opportunities to educate our associates on disability employment issues and our commitment to an inclusive work culture. These efforts included a company-wide associate in-service training, ongoing mentoring programs, associate spotlights, and recognition celebrations.

Lintons is committed to providing employment opportunities for consumers, clients, and community program residents with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) within Lintons’ facilities. Since 2002, Lintons Community Works program offers on going dedication to residents with intellectual developmental disabilities by providing them with employment opportunities. It also assists individuals in developing job readiness skills while contributing to the daily needs of the facility. Additional highlights include promoting teamwork alongside fellow associates, personal and professional growth, interpersonal skills development, hands-on academic learning experiences, understanding the work environment, mentoring opportunities and soft skills development for application creation and interviewing.

At Lintons, we take pride in fostering an inclusive workforce, where individuals of all ability levels can succeed and are recognized for their talents — every day of every month and year.
