 Harvest of the Month - Making Fruits and Veggies Super Stars!

Featured in Food-Management.com in June 2022, Lintons Food Service Management brings a new approach to encouraging kids to eat their vegetables with our Harvest of the Month Program.


Monthly promotions and school visits highlight a different fruit or vegetable each month, making it the “star of the meal” with themed school lunches, posters, activities, giveaways, and visits from Lintons’ own DJ Fuji Fresh! Students enjoy the activities and the delicious lunches, all while gaining exposure to local produce.

Lintons’ own DJ Fuji Fresh makes a special appearance in the classroom at ICS to celebrate the Strawberry Harvest in June.


“We did it to expose children who participate in the National School Lunch Program to different types of vegetables and fruits that they may not be exposed to on a regular basis,” says Bryan Schmidt, Director of Culinary Development.


“We want students to develop healthy eating habits and also to use produce that is farmed in their locality. Harvest of the Month was rolled out in nearly all the schools where Lintons operates. For the 2022-2023 school year, Lintons will expand Harvest of the Month to a number of meals to feature the “Star” Veggie or Fruit in the lunches served. The goal is to visit a participating school every month to spread the word about the benefits of eating healthy local fruits and vegetables.
