In 2019, Lintons branded a Good to Go program in its Education Division designed to increase line speed for more than 600 students while providing additional National School Lunch Program-compliant à la carte options that are also components of a reimbursable meal. The operational plan and open-air refrigeration system allows students to hand-select items to complete their reimbursable meals with color-coded symbols that identify components of each item, such as protein, grain, vegetable or fruit.

This layout generates an increase in line speed and subsequently allows students more time to eat lunch in the cafeteria. In addition, digital menu boards that grab the attention of students were installed, providing them with menu information, fun nutrition facts and flavorful images to encourage meal participation.

The Lintons Healthcare Division, meanwhile, developed a restaurant-style meal service model for residential consumers with developmental disabilities, fostering a social environment that offers the individual choice, producing greater consumption and overall wellness.

Also, the Lintons360.com was launched to meet the nutritional needs of residents in clients’ group homes and residential meal settings. The web-based nutrition package helps units balance dietary guidelines, limited budgets and staff turnover through streamlined mealtime preparation geared to each residential facility, which is beneficial for oversight by managers, surveyors and accreditation bodies allowing consistency and accountability to become the standard for mealtime.

Included with the Lintons360.com subscription are client-selected cycle menus, portion-adjusted HACCP recipes with preparation steps for selected menus, weekly shopping lists, daily nutritional analysis and menu extensions to accommodate special diets. The site also features textured meal preparation, food safety, cooking tips, seasonal menus, and health and wellness resources.

Over the course of the past year, Lintons was awarded new business in Florida, Tennessee and Texas in facilities that provide behavioral health services to at-risk and adjudicated youth in residential treatment facilities and community-based programs.

In addition, the Lintons corporate dietitian and marketing department implemented Team Nutrition, a monthly educational and age-segmented poster series that focuses on different topics each month to encourage students to make healthy food choices and incorporate physical activity in their daily lives. Prominently displayed in school cafeterias, they provide opportunities for students of all ages to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
