October 6–12, 2019
Officially recognized in 1989 by Congress and observed during the second week of October — Healthcare Food Service Workers Week was established to honor the food service professionals who help employees and patients stay well nourished and healthy.
Healthcare food service workers are a critical part of day-to-day operations. Not only do they prepare healthy meals for patients, but they also cater meetings, provide take-out orders, and prepare meals for patients with strict health and dietary needs.
Behind the scenes, healthcare food service teams maintain the kitchens, cafeterias, and dining halls at very high standards of cleanliness — all while managing the extensive inventory of food for thousands of meals.
Although Healthcare Food Service Workers Week has passed, please remember to give special thanks to food service workers any day of the year!
