National School Lunch Week 2020
Now Playing: School Lunch!
School lunch plays a critical role in the education of children. Since its inception in 1946, the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) has made a positive difference in the academic success of countless students. More than 95 percent of schools participate in the NSLP, serving more than 31 million children healthy and balanced meals daily that meet established dietary guidelines — that’s 5 billion meals a year!
With most schools teaching remotely in 2020, Lintons decided to celebrate this year’s National School Lunch Week theme Now Playing: School Lunch! with Golden Tickets. These tickets, along with additional Meal Participation Tickets, were randomly placed into the meal bags for students to pick up. Students who found a ticket in their bag won Amazon or Wawa gift card. Unlike NSLW, this celebration went on for the entire month of October, with over 500 winners!
Although NSLW 2020 has passed, we can continue to support and promote our school lunch program by spreading the word about the importance of school lunch, as well as the immediate and long-term benefits of healthy food choices.
