School lunch plays a critical role in the education of children. In fact, the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. In 1962, National School Lunch Week was created to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom.
This year’s theme, Wild About School Lunch, invited students to try creative and fun new menu items, while appealing to the universal popularity of animals and nature to reach students in all grade levels. In preparation of National School Lunch Week (NSLW), informative posters were distributed within the schools, and educational graphics were posted on social media in efforts to increase awareness. During the week, participating students had the opportunity to win gift cards fromFandango, Wawa, and Sheetz. It’s just another way Lintons makes lunchtime a fun time!
Every day, Lintons joins the countless organizations across the country who administer National School Lunch Program activities — including National School Lunch Week and National School Breakfast Week, which is observed annually in March. We recognize and value the importance of the NSLP programs that nourish children with the foods they need to develop healthy lifestyles and achieve success in the classroom and beyond. Lintons is grateful to all of our associates who go above and beyond to ensure all children we serve are able to focus on their education, instead of worrying about their next lunch.
