Lintons is proud to partner with Food Fit Philly and Riverview Home. The adult care residential facility housed within the City of Philadelphia's Office of Supportive Housing (OSH) is home to over 100 residents, ranging in age from 52 to 93 years. It serves approximately 240 resident meals daily, in addition to snacks. Food Fit Philly is an initiative through the Philadelphia Department of Public Health with a mission to provide residents with the educational tools they need to live healthy, active, and smoke-free lifestyles.
Lintons' Corporate Dietitian Andrea McHugh and Food Fit Philly began the process with an in-depth dietary analysis to verify compliance with current standards for servings, portions, and preparation, as well as daily amounts of calories, sodium, fat, and other nutrients.
Simple changes began in the kitchen with everyday menu items by using only fresh or frozen vegetables in homemade soups, adding low-sodium menu items, and serving items made with whole wheat bread. With these changes, a caloric reduction of 15% was achieved.
The program continues to expand with training for staff and nutrition education for the residents and Riverview Homes staff.
